Cloth Reel Breakdown
Project: Alice in Wonderland
Programs: Maya and proprietary software
Cloth Solver: Tango
Work done on following Shot:
Brought in character and costume and ran cloth simulation.
Pulled out various interpenetrations to costume layers and fur by use of various deformers.
Created collision object for the pocket watch
For Setup Shots: (March Hare, Stayne, Monkeys, & Frog Footmen)
Extracted sim garments from beauty model (remodeled at our specifications)
Work closely with modeling and rigging for specific model and for rigging of costume
Assisted shot artists on troubleshooting costume in shot.
Project: Beowulf
Programs: Maya and proprietary software
Cloth Solver: Maya Classic Cloth
Work done on following Shots:
Brought in costumes and ran cloth simulation for most hero and background characters.
Ran hair simulation for same characters.
Checked and smoothed out various interpenetrations of cloth and hair against costumes, props, and/or characters.
Tweaked hair and cloth simulations based on camera, movement of characters, and direction of shot.
Depending on shot, hand-animated deformations on costumes for ultimate look and/or specific action of cloth.
Project: Death Dance
Programs: Maya 7.0
Cloth Solver: Syflex
Work done on following Shot:
Direction, Animation, some Rigging and Texturing.
Modeled: Robe, Collision objects, Character, Environment (all in polygons).
Created collider objects for props in polygons and bound collision geometry to the rig.
Ran simulation and tweaked settings until the proper weight and movement required for shot were achieved.
Baked out simulation and shaped out remaining intersections using the "poly sculpt" tool in Maya.
Project: Walk Cycle
Programs: Maya 7.0, Syflex
Work done on following Shot:
Animation, Modeling, Simulation
Modeled: Pants and collision objects (polygons) and bound collision geometry to the rig.
Ran simulation and tweaked various cloth and settings till proper movement of cloth was achieved.
Added dampening field to further help movement and look of garment.
Baked out simulation and removed remaining intersections using the "poly sculpt" tool in Maya.
