Shot work & co-cloth setup

  • Prepped the Dementor for costume setup by creating collision body & hood mesh.
  • Assisted in modifying sim mesh for better collision and self interaction.
  • Tested settings on hood and tweaked according to client feedback.
  • Ran simulations on character, sometimes multiples at a time.
  • Checked all characters and set for any possible costume penetration or interaction.
  • Post fixed problems according to direction of shot and visibility of characters.

    Shot work

  • Brought in character and costume and ran cloth simulation.
  • When required, ran simulation several times with various perameters based on art direction on shot.
  • Created collision objects for any objects held or colliding with the costumes.
  • Pulled out various interpenetrations to costume layers and fur by use of various deformers.
  • Based on shot direction, hand-animated deformations on costumes for ultimate look and/or specific action of cloth.

  • Costume Setup:
    Alice "Siren", Stayne, Tweedles, Frog Footmen, & Monkeys

  • Extracted sim garments from beauty model
  • Extracted collision body from beauty model and remodeled to cloth specifications
  • Work closely with modeling and rigging with any specific technical issues
  • Ran various simulation perameters until getting buyoff on desired settings and rolled them into a full costume setup
  • Prepared character to be simulated by artists with little ramp up time.
  • Assisted shot artists on troubleshooting costume once in play on shot.

    Shot work

  • Brought in costumes and ran cloth simulation for most hero and background characters.
  • Ran hair simulation for same characters.
  • Checked and smoothed out various interpenetrations of cloth and hair against costumes, props, and/or characters.
  • Tweaked hair and cloth simulations based on camera, movement of characters, and direction of shot.
  • Depending on shot, hand-animated deformations on costumes for ultimate look and/or specific action of cloth.
